MILEY CYRUS ENLISTS LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM, MICK FLEETWOOD & DAVID BYRNE ON THE DELUXE EDITION OF 'SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL'

Earlier this year, global superstar Miley Cyrus returned with her ninth studio album, Something Beautiful; a genre-blurring odyssey that reaffirmed her status as one of contemporary music’s most adventurous voices. The collection of songs seamlessly weaved together threads of pop, acid-rock, jazz, and psychedelia, crafting a confident yet intimate body of work heralded by Cyrus' distinct vocal prowess.

Now, the GRAMMY Award-winning artist has unveiled the albums deluxe edition, featuring two previously unreleased tracks that finds her teaming up with industry legends. It's clear the influence her collaborators have had on their respective tracks, which serve as a thematic couplet.

On Secrets, Cyrus enlists Fleetwood Mac legends Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood. Their unmistakable guitar and percussion work fuel the song with a nostalgic yet fresh energy that echoes the golden era of ‘70s rock, whilst remaining deeply rooted in Cyrus’ soulful artistry. Lyrically, Secrets reads like a peace offering, a vow of protection wrapped in velvet harmonies and soaring choruses. The song echoes the sonic palette of the albums lead single, End Of The World, full of vibrant ABBA-esque musical motifs.

Lockdown however, takes a more experimental detour. Clocking in at nearly fourteen minutes, it’s a sprawling voyage that builds upon the psychedelic experimentation of Cyrus’ 2015 album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz. Here, she teams up with art-rock pioneer David Byrne of Talking Heads, trading verses over warped guitars, sultry saxophone runs, and pulsating percussion. The song explores the complexities of a clandestine relationship, thematically mirroring Secrets through a darker, more enigmatic lens. Together, the two songs deepen the emotional and sonic palette of Something Beautiful.
