With two breakout singles under their belt and over five million streams to their name, Midnight Til Morning aren’t wasting any time defining their sound, or expanding it. Today, the band pulls back the curtain on a darker, more introspective chapter. We’ve been treated to two new tracks: Navy Eyes, a brooding pop gem that marks a sonic shift for the group, and Welcome to LA, a surprise second track that adds further emotional weight to their growing discography.
Whilst Bye, which is still climbing the charts world wide, leaned into infectious hooks and anthemic energy Navy Eyes is moodier, richer in atmosphere, and emotionally more nuanced. The track was crafted with songwriting and production heavyweights Evan Cline (Teddy Swims), Rory Andrew (Joji, Bebe Rexha), and Kevin Garrett (Beyoncé), working together to create a layered soundscape that feels deliberate, textural, and cinematic.
But despite its late-night melancholy, Navy Eyes still carries a sense of warmth and romance, something the band says is at its core. “Navy Eyes is a song you listen to while driving through the city late at night. With your best friend, partner or by yourself. It’s a positive romantic anthem made to soundtrack those special moments,” the group shares.
To round out the release, Midnight Til Morning surprised fans with Welcome to LA, a haunting, atmospheric slow-burner co-written with Australian pop mainstay Amy Shark and produced by Robby De Sa. If Navy Eyes captures intimacy in motion, Welcome to LA explores the flip side: the isolating pursuit of ambition. It's a track that paints Los Angeles in both neon and shadow, a city of dreams and disillusionment, with a confessional tone that cuts deep.
The duo of songs showcases the band’s growing emotional and sonic range, proving their rise is no fluke. Since forming on Netflix’s Building the Band, Conor Smith, Mason Watts, Shane Appell, and Zach Newbould have earned their place as one of the most promising new pop acts of the year — and their fanbase is growing just as fast.
Midnight Til Morning will return to Australia this November for a string of headline shows. Kicking off in Sydney on November 20, the tour will continue on to Brisbane on November 22, before wrapping up in Melbourne the following evening.
