MIDDLE KIDS RETURN WITH ‘QUESTIONS’ + ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM AND TOUR

Aussie band Middle Kids are making their grand return, dropping their new single Questions alongside the announcement of their sophomore album, Today We’re The Greatest, and a string of shows across the east coast of Australia this May. If that wasn’t enough, the band have also shared a one-shot visual for the track, directed by W.A.M Bleakley.

Questions is about the fallacies of an intimate relationship, poetically capturing lyrical honesty above explosive rhythms and a stunningly orchestrated brass-filled climax. Lead singer and songwriter Hannah Joy shares: “I used to drink a lot and most of my previous relationships revolved around this. I don’t think I ever really knew them or they me as a result. ‘Questions’ is about people being around each other but not being close. People who are in intimate relationships can stop asking questions of each other because they are uncomfortable and confusing.”

Made up of Joy, multi-instrumentalist Tim Fitz and drummer Harry Day, the trio recorded their sophomore record inLos Angeles with producer Lars Stalfors (St.Vincent, Soccer Mommy, Purity Ring). Taking on a more conceptual form, Today We’re The Greatest is set to be the trios most personal and courages release to date, an open and uninhibited body of work formed from fearless collaboration. The album follows up the bands 2018 debut album Lost Friends which saw them take the world by storm, touring with the likes of Bloc Party, War on Drugs and Cold War Kids as well as performances on several US late night shows including Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and The Late, Late Show with James Corden

Speaking of the record, Joy shares: “I want to make music that loves its listener. Music that makes people feel seen, seen in the tiny little places that hide away in their hearts. I want people to hear our music, and feel a sense of love. And when I say love, it can be challenging, intense and tough. But it’s in the guts.”

To celebrate their new music, Middle Kids will be hitting the road on their first headline Australian and New Zealand Tour in almost two years. Dubbed the ‘Today We;re The Greatest Tour’, the trio will kick off the string of shows in Brisbane before continuing onto Melbourne and rounding the tour out with a hometown show at City Recital Hall in Sydney. Pre-sale begins Tuesday 19 January at 10am local time.
