Meg Mac has never sounded more at ease with herself, and that sense of freedom is at the heart of her newly announced fourth album, It’s My Party. The ARIA #1 artist has announced the release of the record, arriving February 20, alongside a national theatre tour that promises to be as intimate as it is celebratory.
Made between London and Los Angeles, the album captures a creative turning point for Meg; one shaped less by control and more by curiosity. What started as a rigid, highly serious concept quickly fell apart, forcing her to abandon plans and trust the process instead. That shift changed everything. By releasing her grip on perfection, she found new joy in collaboration and a renewed sense of freedom that runs through the record.
“I thought I had this whole album planned out - I was going for this dark, witchy vibe and I was SO serious,” she shares. “Then honestly, not one thing went to plan and I was forced to let go for once in my life.” That release became central to the album’s emotional core. “I’ve spent most of my career being stressed, but somehow I stopped trying to control it all and found the magic in collaboration, being open and not worrying so much.”
Working with UK producer Bullion proved pivotal. Their partnership encouraged play over pressure, allowing songs to grow naturally rather than be overworked. The result is an alt-pop collection that is set to feel and expansive and instinctive, moving between emotional clarity and bold, melodic confidence.
Singles like He Said No, Tune I’ll Be Singing Till I’m Dead and Sometimes hint at the album’s range, while the darker Outdone reveals a moodier edge, pairing electronic textures with Meg’s unmistakable vocal presence. Across the tracklist, vulnerability and melody sit side by side, showcasing some of her most open and engaging work to date.
To mark the release, Meg will take It’s My Party on the road following a string of surprise pop-up shows and last year’s sold-out Belvoir Street Theatre run. Designed with director and lighting designer Alexander Berlage, the upcoming theatre performances blur the line between concert and storytelling, offering audiences a close-up experience of one of Australia’s most distinctive voices, and an artist allowing herself to have fun.
It's My Party is out February 20. Pre-order the album here.
