Australian artist Matt Boylan-Smith had unveiled his new single, The Only Eyes I've Ever Known. The song serves as the first taste of new music from the musician since the release of his 2022 single, Gloria.
Heartwarming lyricism unfurls across The Only Eyes I've Ever Known, with Boylan-Smith detailing the love shared within his family and the warmth that glows from within. There's a driving passion within the songs soundscape and the musicians performance, with the songs country-meets-rock sonic exploration creates a raw and emotive palette. Whilst there's some mixing issues throughout the song, and at times there's a degree of dissonance within Boylan-Smith's performance, The Only Eyes I've Ever Known shows promise for what is to come.
“I wrote The Only Eyes I’ve Ever known about my family, as is often my wont. It’s about the love we shared growing up in pretty simple conditions in the Blue Mountains. It’s a love song to them, an homage to those I knew first as we as a dedication to those that came after"
Having toured across Australia, Europe and South America, Boylan-Smith took out this years Bluefest Busking Competition, earning him a spot on the celebrated Australian festivals line up. The music video for Johnny recieved acclaim at the Madrid International Film Festival, where it was awarded Best Short Film. The musician currently has his sights set on an East Coast tour for early 2023.
