We caught up with MALLRAT at THIS THAT!

Brisbane native MALLRAT, the musical project Grace Shaw, has treated us with her hotly-anticipated debut album, Butterfly Blue.

Laced with shimmering pop-sensibilities and Mallrat's inimitable lyricism, the record offers up vignettes of navigating life in your early twenties, experiencing love, heartbreak and a fuller sense of empowerment. Shaw weaves together influences of rock and hip-hop into the carefully curated body of work, pushing her vocal performance to new levels with engaging melodies and soaring harmonies.

"The transformation they undergo is almost incomprehensible. They dissolve into goo and then reconstruct themselves – but hold onto the memories of their time as a caterpillar." the musician shares of the albums symbolic title.

Exploding onto the scene five years ago, MALLRAT has captivated audiences around the nation with hit tracks like Better and Groceries, and her collaborations, UFO with Allday and Nobody's Home with Basenji. Her 2019 smash hit Charlie, saw the singer elevate her songwriting to new levels. The song earned MALLRAT a top three postition on the triple j Hottest 100 and saw her make her debut appearance on US television.

Butterfly Blue is out now!
