Watch our interview with Maisie Peters!
British artist Maisie Peters has dropped the visual for her latest single, Body Better. The track serves as the first taste of her hotly-anticipated sophomore album, and arrives just in time for the singers debut Australian tour.
Shot in LA anddirected by Mia Barnes (Camila Cabello, BTS), we meet the singer in a graveyard as she mourns the end of a relationship. Written by Maisie, alongside Ines Dunn (Griff, Mimi Webb) and producer Matias Téllez (girl in red, AURORA), the track brings the singers signature conversational lyricism as she explores the feelings of insecurity that linger post-break up and comparing yourself to your former flames new partner. “Body Better is one of the most honest songs I've ever released, and definitely the most personal”, Maisie shares.
“I wrote it after a breakup and it deals with the ugly things you think to yourself in the aftermath, when you’re painstakingly going through everything small thing you did and were and wondering what you could have changed. It’s a song about insecurity and vulnerability, about giving a lot of yourself away to someone who decides they don’t want it anymore, and knowing where to go from there.”
Kicking off at Byron Bay's The Northern Hotel on February 16, Peters' headline tour will continue on to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. The singer is also set to support Ed Sheeran on his national + - = ÷ x Tour, playing stadiums in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Peters will also perform across New Zealand before heading down under.
In 2021, the singer unveiled her debut album, You Signed Up For This. Having signed to Ed Sheeran's Gingerbread Man Records, Peters teamed up with Sheeran and Steve Mac on the albums single, Psycho. You Signed Up For This further cemented Peters' skills as a songwriter first and foremost, as she navigates the transitional period from adolescence to adulthood.
