With the release of her latest single, the devil wears converse, rising alt-pop star LØLØ kicks off a daring new chapter in her career. Freshly signed to Fearless Records, the Toronto native has wasted no time making an entrance with a track that’s as cheeky as it is emotionally resonant.
Sonically, the devil wears converse is a mid-tempo, pop-punk anthem soaked in sarcasm and self-awareness. It’s a sharp, infectious commentary on the type of boy many have regrettably fallen for. The effortlessly cool, emotionally unavailable heartbreaker dressed in ‘90s nostalgia: worn-in band tees, backwards caps, and, of course, the Converse sneakers. LØLØ has a knack for channelling personal chaos into polished, punchy offerings. She’s not wallowing in emotional messiness - she’s owning it. The track’s production is tight and radio-ready, with enough grit in the lyrics to keep it grounded in realness.
“This is about giving into temptation,” LØLØ has said of the track. “It’s about knowing someone’s bad news, but you go for it anyway because, well... sometimes the devil’s really good at looking cute.” Her delivery walks a confident tightrope between humour and heartbreak, making the song feel more like an inside joke among friends than a lament.
the devil wears converse arrives hot on the heels of LØLØ’s deluxe album falling for robots and wishing I was one, a project that explored emotional detachment, digital-age heartbreak, and identity through her signature pop-punk lens. If that album was her manifesto, then this single is the sassy footnote - a warning, a wink, and a weaponised chorus all in one.
LØLØ’s signing to Fearless Records - home to genre heavyweights like I Prevail and Movements - feels like a natural next step for an artist who has steadily climbed the ranks of the alternative scene. With a dedicated fan base and past collaborations including a reimagined version of Simple Plan’s “I’m Just a Kid,” she’s no stranger to the pop-punk spotlight.
And now, she’s set to hit the road once again. This summer, LØLØ joins Simple Plan, 3OH!3, and Bowling for Soup on the massive Bigger Than You Think! U.S. tour, kicking off August 9 in Seattle. The run includes stops in major cities like Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Boston before wrapping in Texas in early September. Later this fall, she embarks on her own headline tour, culminating with a performance at the Vans Warped Tour’s Orlando stop on November 15.
the devil wears converse is out now.
