Platinum-certified independent singer, songwriter, producer, and one man boy band Lauv has teamed up with the incredible Conan Gray to create a brand new banger, Fake. The release is pop dream sent from the heavens and marks Gray’s first ever collaboration.
On the track, Lauv and Conan critique and analyse the two-faced nature of some people with tongue-in-cheek lyrics set to a bedroom-pop soundscape. The feel-good song will have you singing along at the top of your lungs, chanting the catchy chorus while shaking off the fake people within your own life. When talking of the creation track, Lauv shared: “we wrote Fake the first time I met Conan and it’s one of my fav songs ever. I hope you love it.”
Delving deeper into the meaning of the song, Gray added “Lauv and I wrote Fake while we were just hanging and ranting about those two faced people everybody knows. Those people who say one thing and do the other, people who constantly talk trash about their own friends. We wanted to make something fun you can scream in the car to, a song to flip a bird at those types of people ."
Premiering overnight at Times Square Viacom Billboard in New York, the fun and colourful music video sees the young pop savants navigate a variety of outrageous scenes you’d expect to find within a glossy pop world. The duo don a variety of fabulously striking outfits whilst weaving in and out of the setttings where the pair struggle to remain authentic to themselves, giving into the tropes before them that become more and more extravagant. Keep an eye out for the pure perfection that is the fire-cracker scene!
Lauv released his latest EP last month, only three months after the release of his debut album ~ how I’m feeling ~. Without You is a continuation of the musicians exploration of His simple rhythms paired with evocative lyrics and catchy melodies. 4 tracks that were all written and produced during quarantine with Amy Allen (Halsey, Selena Gomez), DallasK (Fifth Harmony) and Johnny Simpson (Christina Aguilera, Ava Max), to name a few.
The one man boy band will make his return to Australia in September 2021, after being forced to postpone his 2020 tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour will mark his largest shows yet, with the tour kicking off the tour in Melbourne before playing shows in Sydney and Brisbane. The singer will also play a one off show in New Zealand before making his way to Aussie shores. Tickets are on sale now! www.frontiertouring.com/lauv
