Melbourne duo Just A Leo are back with new music! The pair have shared the first taste of their sophomore EP with the release of Hear Me.
Mixed by Toby Dundas (The Temper Trap) and mastered by Adam Dempsey (Angie McMahon), front woman Kalliope's striking vocals soar atop hypnotic percussion and captivating guitar melodies, woven together by atmospheric production. On the self-assured track, the duo stand their ground and forge their own path, dismissing the whispers of naysayers and urging their audience to listen to themselves.
Speaking of the track, Kalliope shares: "I’ve gone through life never questioning my beliefs. During lockdowns, I began meditating daily to cope and came to realise that the majority of my views weren’t actually mine. I started unpacking myself and I realised I don’t want to live a 'normal' life. I want to chase my music career and experience the world. People around me need to respect that. For example, I don’t want to start having kids until later in life. Friends have actually said to me ‘you should really re-consider that,’ as if I haven’t made an educated decision. I wish I said: ‘Instead of judging me, maybe ask why and just listen for once.’”
Last year, Just A Leo made their debut with their single, I Think About My Faith. The duo followed the release up with Hideaway, before the release of their debut four-track EP, Sick of All The Rain, arrived late last year. With more tunes under their belt, Just A Leo are gearing up to share their sophomore EP later this year.
