American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, Joshua Bassett has treated fans with the release of his highly anticipated debut EP, Joshua Bassett. Featuring the singles Only A Matter Of Time and Lie Lie Lie, the release is made complete with four new tracks, rounding out a superb debut body of work from the musician.
The EP is accompanied by the release of an official visual for Telling Myself, directed by Audrey Ellis Fox. Starring Basset and Chandler Kinney, the visual sees the pair causing mayhem, embarking on their own version of a Bonnie and Clyde heist.
Opening with the dreamy and shimmering Sorry, the release serves as a docuemntation of moments within the musicians life, covering a variety of personal themes and commenting on the human experience, with a particular focus on relationships. The delicate fingerpicking on Do It All Again showcases the another side of the musicians instrumental abilities, with Heaven Is You serving as a final striking moment on the EP.
Speaking of the release, Bassett shares: “My debut EP is a rollercoaster of stories and emotions. It was written over the span of two years, so every song represents a different chapter of my life recently. It’s all about the messiness of relationships, the back and forth of falling into and falling out of love, and how those stories somehow come together into a cohesive chaos.”
This weekend, Bassett will appear at the 2021 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice, where he scored a nod for Favorite Male TV Star for his work on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. The musician will also be hosting his first ever virtual performance, A Night With Joshua Bassett: A One Night Only Virtual Concert Experience. Taking place at 11am AEST on April 17th, the show will see Bassett perform the tracks off his debut EP for the first time with a band, as well as exhibiting his abilities as a multi-instrumentalist Tickets are on sale now.
Basset is a multi instrumentalist, playing piano, guitar, and drums and also writes and produces his own music. Having performed in musicals since the age of eight, he began his career ad an actor, staring in television programs such as Stuck In The Middle, Grey’s Anatomy and Lethal Weapon before landing a lead role Disney + High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Signing to Warner Records shortly after the shows premiere, Bassett released his debut single Common Sense, in 2020 before beginning to work on his debut EP.
