NSW South Coast singer-songwriter Joe Mungovan has unveiled his hotly-anticipated debut album, A Flower In The Weeds. The musician is set to embark on an intimate NSW tour, kicking off this weekend,

Written throughout lockdown, the album takes its inspiration from the musicians time spent travelling Europe, and a blossoming international relationship that was thwarted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The perfect body of work to soundtrack your warm and breezy afternoons, Mungovan's introspective and relatable lyricism is delicately woven within superb guitar work and refined production. The musicians vocals are as captivating as ever, capturing the listeners attention whilst bringing the records conceptual nature to life.

Speaking of the release, the musician shares: “Unfortunately our time together was cut short when we found out that the pandemic was getting quite serious - the German borders were closing. We turned the van around and headed back to Sydney to get her on a flight home I returned to the valley and finished writing. This album is about the time we spent together traveling through Europe and Australia, drinking wine and enjoying life before our plans were turned upside down.”

To celebrate the record, Mungovan is hitting the road! Kicking off in Kiama this Saturday, the Breakfast With Joe Cafe Tour will see the musician visit a number of cafes across the coast of NSW. The run of intimate performances will continue on to Wollongong, Port Macquarie, Forster, Terrigal, Maitland, Newcastle, Newrybar, New Brighton, Culburra, Berry, Bowral and Surry Hills, before wrapping up in Katoomba on December 5.

“I initially planned on touring the album with a full band through November and December." Mungovan says. The second lock down hit, I quickly realised that I would have to reschedule those shows, but I still wanted to play some gigs and give people live music. The idea of ‘Breakfast With Joe’ was born. On the week the album drops I will hit the road and travel up the east coast playing at a different cafe each morning. I have chosen some beautiful spaces with big outdoor areas so bring your picnic rug, get your almond latte orders in and enjoy a morning of live music and smashed avo.”
