NSW South Coast singer-songwriter Joe Mungovan is hitting the road! Hot off the release of his debut album, A Flower In The Weeds, the musician is set to embark on an east coast tour
Kicking off at Penny’s Ballroom in Melbourne on February 19, the run of shows will continue on to Halls Gap, Byron Bay, Brisbane, Bulli and Milton, before wrapping up at Sydney's Oxford Arts Factory on April 14. Tickets to the Bulli and Sydney show are on sale now, all remaining shows are free events.
“After two long years of no touring I'm itching to hit the road with the band and play for a real life audience (and not just the cows in the back paddock near my house). We're so stoked to bring the songs from 'A Flower In The Weeds' to the stage... dust off your Sunday best 'cos we're coming for ya, Australia! xx Joe.”
Written throughout lockdown, A Flower In The Weeds takes its inspiration from the musicians time spent travelling Europe, and a blossoming international relationship that was thwarted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The perfect body of work to soundtrack your warm and breezy afternoons, Mungovan's introspective and relatable lyricism is delicately woven within superb guitar work and refined production. The musicians vocals are as captivating as ever, capturing the listeners attention whilst bringing the records conceptual nature to life.
Speaking of the release, the musician shares: “Unfortunately our time together was cut short when we found out that the pandemic was getting quite serious - the German borders were closing. We turned the van around and headed back to Sydney to get her on a flight home I returned to the valley and finished writing. This album is about the time we spent together traveling through Europe and Australia, drinking wine and enjoying life before our plans were turned upside down.”
