Last night, ARIA-Award winning, R&B-pop artist, proud Kuku Yalanji and Wakaman woman and overall local legend, Jessica Mauboy treated attendees at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week to a performance of her new single, Automatic.
Hitting the runway during the Indigenous Fashion Projects show, presented by David Jones, the performance was the perfect end to a showcase of vibrant collection from a number of First Nation designers.
Produced by George Reid (AlunaGeorge) and written alongside Aston and electronic duo Cosmos Midnight, Automatic leans into funk-led grooves and production, whilst Mauboy's inimitable vocals simmer atop. The song serves as the second taste of the singers new 80's inspired sonic exploration, and arrives alongside an official visual directed by directed by Bill Bleakley. The clip harks back to Mauboy's childhood, having grown up riding quadbikes in Darwin.
