ARIA-Award winning, R&B-pop artist, proud Kuku Yalanji and Wakaman woman and overall local legend, Jessica Mauboy is back with her new single, Right Here, Right Now. The singer premiered the song at Sydney WorldPride last month, where she kicked off the festivities with a concert alongside Kylie Minogue and Charli XCX.
Teaming up with frequent collaborators David Musumeci and Anthony Egizii of DNA, the track finds Mauboy leaning back into her formidable pop sound with undertones of disco and funk, and has a quality reminiscent of Lauryn Hill's Doo-Wop (That Thing). The confident cut is a call to embrace yourself and be present within your own life. Mauboy's inimitable vocals bring empowering lyricism to life, and will have you dancing all night long.
“Right Here Right Now is about being present and embracing all your qualities and accepting who you are. We try to be perfect, but at the end of the day, it’s a statement, you’ve turned up with all that you are and you’re ready, embracing and celebrating all of you!” the singer shares. “The only thing we can control in life is our present, and it’s a song that’s about finding peace and joy through accepting where you are now and leaning into it.”
