ARIA-Award winning, R&B-pop artist, proud Kuku Yalanji and Wakaman woman and overall local legend, Jessica Mauboy has kicked into gear with the release of her new single, Automatic.
Produced by George Reid (AlunaGeorge) and written alongside Aston and electronic duo Cosmos Midnight, Automatic leans into funk-led grooves and production, whilst Mauboy's inimitable vocals simmer atop. The song serves as the second taste of the singers new 80's inspired sonic exploration, and arrives alongside an official visual directed by directed by Bill Bleakley. The clip harks back to Mauboy's childhood, having grown up riding quadbikes in Darwin.
“Automatic is about having faith in your own sense of direction and firmly taking the driver’s seat in all aspects of your life. Believe in your intuition and don’t be afraid to give yourself permission to explore that - the little voice in your head is usually always right. It was a serious blast to hit the studio with George Reid (AlunaGeorge) & co-writers Cosmos Midnight and Sophie Curtis (Aston) to make this song.” Mauboy shares.
Continuing her role as a judge on The Voice Australia earlier this year, Mauboy took to the shows stage last night to perform her 2020 single, Glow. In the midst of her The Boss Lady Tour, with special guest Caiti Baker, the singer is also set to perform at Bass In The Grass and Deni Ute Muster 2022. Tickets on sale now.
