Watch our interview with Justus Bennetts

Raleigh-based, Seattle-born singer-songwriter Justus Bennetts recently delivered the next viral sensation with Bad Day. We caught up with the musician to chat about the release and more!

The modern day Ironic, Bennetts recalls on a past relationship on the title track, sounding off a list of bad events you might find yourself hoping your pesky ex might encounter. Last week, Bennetts followed up the release with an official visual, directed by Eliot Lee.

"For this song we just wanted it to be about anyone that had ever done us wrong,” 21-year-old Bennetts says. “Whether it be someone we had an altercation with in the elevator or the ex that did us dirty, this song is meant to represent anyone the listener puts in that space. I wanted to cultivate a whole listening experience that invites the listeners into what we have created.”

Swapping his career as a car salesman, Bennetts converted his laundry room into a home studio, before heading to New York. His singles Nightstand and Real Life Sux became TikTok hits, with his single Insomniac hitting the radio eaves across the US.

Bad Day is out now! Watch the visual below.
