This Friday, Newcastle indie rock trio Cooks & Bakers will unveil their debut EP, Out Of Touch. We caught up with the band to chat about the EP, their sonic exploration of sound, puppets and so much more! The trio also treated us to an exclusive stripped back version of their latest single, When I Fall, available to watch below.
Recorded at The Grove Studios with with James Osborn and Jack Nigro, the five-track release will feature the previously released singles When I Fall and Lover Like Her. Out Of Touch sees the three-piece hone in on their sound, curating a tight body of work that explores relationships in their many facets. Contemplating his own relationships, those orbiting around him, and creating fictional tales frontman and lyricist Campbell Ross weaves together the lingering affects of love atop glistening indie-rock soundscapes, that encapsulate the genre-fusing sound the band have arrived at.
Made up of vocalist and guitarist Ross, bassist Nathaniel Duggan and drummer Finn Ellem, Cooks & Bakers have built up a loyal fanbase across the coast of NSW since their formation in 2018. Having performed a string of sold-out shows across Newcastle and Wollongong, the three-piece have supported the likes of Luca Brasi, Thundamentals, Boo Seeka, West Thebarton, E^st, Clypso Stumps, Cry Club, Eagle Eye Jones, Tiali Eliza and The Butlers.
