As Lime Cordiale wrapped up their national tour in Sydney last night, the band were joined on stage by none other than British actor, writer, producer, rapper and singer-songwriter, Idris Elba. The actor and musician has been in Australia filming Marvel's latest blockbuster, Thor: Love and Thunder, starring Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth.
The surprise appearance comes with the tease of a collaboration between Elba and Lime Cordiale. “Idris has been in Australia for awhile now and starting listening to our music. Following an introduction, we invited him into the studio to feature on a track. One track has now turned into many and we’ve got an exciting project in the works,” says Oli Leimbach. “It was his idea to jump on stage last night. He killed it!” he adds.
The news comes off the back of their triple j hottest 100 haul, with an unprecedented five tracks under 26, taken from their sophomore album, 14 Steps To A Better You. With over 172 million streams combined, the record is full of everyday life situations. Dealing and commenting on love and friendships, referencing the camaraderie of friendships and the intimacy of companionship. With the title parodying self-help books, the tracks offer lessons to their listeners. The record promotes kindness and helping not only the people around you, but the world itself. It is a body of work that shows not only the sonic development of the band throughout their career, but also the growth they have undertaken within their personal lives
