Naarm/Melbourne-raised, now London-based post-punk outfit HighSchool are heading home! The duo have announced Australian headline shows off the back of their signing to [PIAS] Australia and the release of their latest single, August 19.

Their latest offering finds the band expanding their sonic palette, introducing threads of bedroom-pop within their signature beguiling sound. Exploring themes of nostalgia, adolescence and young love, vocalist Rory Trobbiani shares: “August 19 was the last track we wrote for the EP and will be the first to be released. It came together so quickly and naturally, we felt it was best not to mess with it and over work it. The title was the date we wrote it. It was saved as a voice memo on my phone and the title never changed.” The track is accompanied by an official visual, directed by Trobbiani.

HighSchool will take to the stage at The Lansdowne in Sydney, before heading south to Melbourne to perform at The Night Cat on March 2. Frontier Members presale will begin Wednesday 31 January at 11am AEDT, before tickets go on sale on Friday 2 February at 11am AEDT.

The band say of their signing to [PIAS] Australia, “Signing with [PIAS] marks a significant milestone in our journey and opens up new horizons that we couldn’t be more excited about. We are thrilled and humbled to now be amongst such a talented roster of artists and to be a part of such a far reaching network, knowing we’ll have the home support of the lovely people at [PIAS] Australia.”

August 19 is out now!
