Albury/Wodonga-based alternative rock band SOULSLEEP have dropped their new single, Glass Heart, produced by Chris Lalic (Windwaker, The Last Martyr). To celebrate the release, the band have shared with MILKY five facts about the band.

"When the COVID pandemic began, my mental health deteriorated. I was depressed and angry and felt like I had no quality of life. I was encouraged to see a psychologist and was lucky to get an appointment. I ended up on medication, and for someone who always thought things like that were 'all in your head', it was a huge reality check, and I am now aware of how naive I was. Music is how I express myself. With all of the lockdowns and restrictions, my outlet was taken away. Like glass, we are breakable, not indestructible, and speaking up and getting help is not weak." guitarist Jayden Zago explains.

All four of our members names start with the letter "J". Three of us have children, and they are all daughters.

Jake, Jayden and Jesse have known each other for nine years and have been in multiple bands together in that time.

Supporting bands such as Parkway Drive, Northlane, In Hearts Wake, Make Them Suffer, Fit For A King, The Plot In You, Dream On Dreamer and The Getaway Plan. Jake was only 16 when Jayden picked him out of a school band and asked him to join his band instead.

In a previous band, when we were supporting Parkway Drive, Jake broke his guitar string on the second song of the set and our vocalist at the time asked a crowd of 2,000 people if anyone had "a spare seven-string guitar in their boot, that we could use." So cringe!

Many moons ago, Jayden and Jimi met on a pub crawl and instantly hit it off with their shared passion for music.

Fun fact: Jayden was Jimi's first kiss he received from a drunken man. Jimi has since DJ'd at Jayden's wedding.

We can all play guitar.
