Iconic Australian producer Flume has treated us all with the release of a new compilation album, Things Don’t Always Go The Way You Plan, featuring ten unheard tracks than span the past ten years of his career.
Arriving a decade on from the release of his self-titled debut, the release of the collection of songs was inspired by the outpour of fans celebrating the anniversary of Flume. The album captures the musicians eclectic multi-faceted musical output, leaning into future bass, electronic, hip-hop, EDM, experimental and more. There's a number of unheard collaborations too, with Flume enlisting Injury Reserve, Isabella Manfredi and Panda Bear on tracks across the release.
Last year, the producer released his highly-anticipated third studio album, Palaces, which was created during the COVID-19 pandemic. He relocated to a coastal town in New South Wales which provided the space to reconnect with his surrounding nature, with his new setting and connection with the natural world becoming embedded within the body of work. The album featured the 3x ARIA-nominated single, Say Nothing, which featured fellow Australian artist MAY-A, and prompted a world-wide tour. Read our review of Flume's Sydney show here.
