Melbourne-based multidisciplinary artist Dugong Jr has shared his sophomore EP, Pleasure Principle. The six-track release features collaborations with Jordan Dennis, Evangeline and Rromarin (Kult Kyss).

The release sees the musician experiment and return to his roots as an experimental electronic producer, creating a body of work that is not defined by genre. The EP is contemporary and coherent, showcasing Dugong Jr’s understanding and exhilarating take on electronic music. Pleasure Principle features the musicians previously released single, On My Own, which was selected as a winner in triple j Unearthed’s: Annual NIDA Music Video competition.

Speaking on the EP, the man behind Dugong Jr, Dylan Tainish, shares: “Pleasure Principle was really about trying to get back to my roots as an experimental electronic producer. Not setting out to create genre defined music, and just doing what felt exciting in the moment, pursuing the 'Pleasure Principle’. I was extremely fortunate to be able to pick a handful of my favourite artists in Australia to work on this project with, (incl. Jordan Dennis, Rromarin, Evangeline and visual artist Nickeays) each who I really respect for their own individuality and tendency not to shy away from more experimental ideas. This year has been very challenging for most, myself included, but I’m super proud of this project and really excited for it to be out there in the world.'

Dugong Jr combines DIY culture with a precipice attention to detail across all of his releases. Having graduated from art school and being a graphic designer, his music infuses a conscious decision to focus on the gritty and imperfect elements of electronica. With millions of streams to his name, the musician has taken to the stage at some of Australia’s biggest festivals including Splendour In The Grass and Groovin The Moo.

Pleasure Principle is out now!
