Femme nu-punk band DOWNGIRL have delivered their new single, Manic.
Opening with crunchy guitar riffs, propulsive drum work soon runs rampant throughout the track, whilst Skarlett Saramore and Lou Harbidge's commanding vocals stomp above. Touching on themes of mental health, the track is all about finding a way through the tougher times and reaching our for help. Filmed and directed by Stackhat, the songs visual places the four-piece within an upside down home, with each member isolated from one another before coming together for the ultimate jam session.
"Manic was written during Sydney's last pandemic lockdown as a back and forth via the WWW. It explores mental health issues and the responsibility we must take for them during a time which is insular and introspective." the band share of the track.
To celebrate the release, DOWNGIRL will be hitting the road on an east coast tour. Kicking off at Sydney's Soda Factory on October 16, the tour will hit The Lass in Newcastle on November 12, before wrapping up in Melbourne at Cherry Bar on November 19. Tickets are on sale now!
