Aussie surf rockers Debbies have you sorted with their new single, Sinner. Built upon layered drums and subtle synths, the track brings the duos signature sonic sound, whilst they grapple with staying true to yourself.
Speaking of the release, the duo share: “Sinner deals with the struggles of getting caught up with trying to be someone you’re not and coming to the realisation that you don’t have to be anyone but yourself. The whole time we felt like we were trying to be people we weren’t (which felt like a sin) so we left the party, walked down the road and found a riverbank where we spent the rest of the night drinking and having a good time by ourselves. We actually had the chorus for the song for ages, and then after mucking around with the guitar line at the start and trying to write about that experience at the river, everything just fell into place.”
In the two short years since their formation, Debbies have taken to the stage at Falls Festival, Bigsound and Yours and Owls Festival, having also become finalists in Triple j Unearthed High 2019. The duo will be joining Teenage Joans and The Terrys on their respective tours later this year.
“We couldn’t be more stoked to be releasing Sinner in the midst of supporting Teenage Joans on their national EP Tour." Debbies share of their support slot for Teenage Joans. "The shows are by far the biggest shows we’ve lucked out on and we’d definitely consider TJ’s some of our best friends in the music biz. It really feels too good to be true!”
