Vocalist and guitarist Deb Never is making her return in 2021 with her new single, Someone Else.
Bringing her signature dreamlike melodies to the track, the song struts the singers love drunk insecurities over a distinctly bare backdrop. The track builds to a crescendo as she becomes more self-aware, with Never’s vocals shimmering above a scinitalting soundscape. The track marks personal growth from the artist, who last year relocated to London with no real intention or plan. What resulted was five months working and writing an onslaught of new music, with an insular group of London-based collaborators.
Produced by Jam City (Kelela, Bad Gyal, Troye Sivan) and Michael Percy (Snoh Aalegra, Joy Crookes), the release is accompanied by a visual, filmed by Elif Gönen in the Hampstead Heath neighborhood. The melodramatic clip takes its inspiration from 90s indie films, featuring a buoyantly endearing love interest that takes the viewer on a day in the life of lovestruck London romance.
