Brisbane duo Days Like These are continuing their cover streak with their revitalised version of The Killers' Somebody Told Me. The release arrives alongside an official performance visual, created by the band alongside Zachary Shane.
Taking on producing, recording and mixing duties, the duo fuse together notes pf punk-rock and electro into one swelling soundscape that captures the nostalgic quality of the track whilst recontextualising it into a modern setting. Frontman Callen Batson's commanding vocals stomp above riotous percussion from Noah Murphy, and crunchy guitar work made complete with energised synth lines. Channelling the fire of the original track and delivering their own interpretation, Days Like These have delivered an emo dream.
“The idea behind the reimagined version and the cover was to deliver some new music to our fans before trekking across the country for our final shows of 2022. Our new EP has now been pushed back and is set to be released early next year, so we really wanted to get something out in the meantime. With all of our finances being tied up in that upcoming project, we had to put these songs together ourselves. It was a massive challenge for us, but we enjoyed the hardship and are very proud of what we created.” the duo share.
The simmering release arrives just in time for the bands forthcoming East Coast tour. Presented by AM//PM, the Emo Nights Tour will kick off at Sydney's Burdekin Hotel on September 24, before continuing on to The Brightside in Brisbane on October 15. The run of shows will come to a close at Melbourne's Inflation on October 29. Joined by Paperweight and Synge, tickets are on sale now!
