Anonymous emerging artist cookii is back with a shimmering new cut, sharing their single moonlight.
The heartfelt release brings those early noughties vibes made famous by Natalia Imbruglia, Natasha Bedingfield and many more, seamlessly bringing those sonic threads into a contemporary hyper-pop soundscape.
Speaking of the track, the singer shares: moonlight is a song about the end of the world and trying to find a loved one desperately. This song lyrically was relatively easy to think up because it was written in the middle of the long Melbourne lockdown and we thought 'how can we be really dramatic about the end of the world' cause at that time it all felt pretty doomsday-ish. The inspiration for the instrumental of this song comes from late 90s rock anthems like Torn by Natalie Imbruglia or no doubt except deeper fried to keep things interesting.
The release arrives alongside an official visual, created by cookii's creative partner Sam Balfus.
