Australian musician Chris Lanzon has announced his signing to Hunnydew Records, alongside the release of his cover of the Goo Goo Dolls classic hit, Iris.
After going viral across social media, with over one million plays on TikTok, Lanzon decided to record the track after fan demand for a studio version. Bringing his breathtaking vocals and pinpoint production to the rendition, the track serves as a teaser before more new original music from the musician.
Speaking of his decision to cover the song, Lanzon shares: "Iris has always been a song I’ve loved and connected with, especially lyrically. I recently felt inspired to record a stripped back one-take cover of it in my bedroom which I uploaded to YouTube and Soundcloud, without thinking about it too much. People started responding to it really positively and I decided to upload a snippet to TikTok which I’d only started using in the last couple of months. The next morning I woke up and it had over 100k views and thousands of comments from people who were really resonating with my take on the song."
Lanzon, a former member of Australian boy band In Stereo, began his musical journey at a young age, competing in national televised singing competitions. After extensive touring with the group, Lanzon wanted to focus on his own projects. Self-releasing all of his music, the musician has amassed over 550k streams across platforms and has built up his fanbase as a solo artist. Lanzon's sophomore EP Far From Perfect, is due out in the coming months.
