Multi-platinum Australian rap phenomenon, Chillinit has delivered his new mixtape, 420DNA. We caught up with the musicians two years on from our first interview to chat about the release, fatherhood, the hard work put in to his success and so much more!
Serving as the rappers first full length project since his ARIA-nominated 2021 album Family Ties, 420DNA finds Chillinit pivoting into more traditional hip-hop sonics laced with 90's nostalgia that harks back to the golden age of the genre. His effortless flow and punchline-laden bars shine through, delivering his signature charm and charisma across the ten-track release. Where Family Ties focused on the family he was born into and cultivated friendships, 420DNA finds the rapper reflecting on starting his own family and launching a new chapter of his career with the mixtape serving as a taste of what's to come.
On December 2, Chillinit will wrap up his 420DNA Tour at Adelaide's The Gov before embarking on his 420 Oz Crawl regional tour next March. Kicking off in Torquay on March 9, the run of shows will continue on to Narre Warren, the Gold Coast, Ipswich, Noosa, Fremantle, Bunbury, Joondalup, Airlie Beach, Townsville, Cairns, Albury, Canberra, Penrith, Gosford, Wollongong, Ulladulla, Coffs Harbour, Newcastle and Darwin, before wrapping up in Hobart on May 18.
