The goddess of pop, Cher has returned with a Christmas present for us all! The global icon has shared the first taste of her forthcoming festive album, Christmas, with the release of DJ Play A Christmas Song.
Written by Sara Hudson (Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, Troye Sivan), the track brings all the goodness of Cher's 1998 hit-single Believe - which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year - with distorted vocals throughout the songs verses, leading to a hopeful chorus. Cher's inimitable vocals glimmer above a sparse soundscape, before a pumping beat drops in to bring the dance-floor energy synonymous with the hitmaker.
Christmas is set to feature collaborations with Cyndi Lauper, Darlene Love, Tyga, Michael Bublé and Stevie Wonder. The record will arrive with four original songs, and the singers take on nine holiday classics. “I never say this about my own records but I’m really proud of this one. It is one of the most amazing highlights of my career,” Cher comments of the album. She adds of her duet with Wonder, "Every time I hear that harmonica, I’m a teenager again. It’s a personal dream come true for me to record this song with Stevie.”
