4x Grammy-nominated hitmaker Charlie Puth has returned with his new single, Hero. The track serves as the first taste of the musicians fourth studio album
Self-produced and co-written alongside John Byron, Jack Rochon & long-time collaborator JKash, Hero finds Puth explores observing a loved one heading down a treacherous path and wanting to offer help and support, but feeling like you can;t save them. The down-tempo is built upon warm acoustic guitar chords and driving percussion work, whilst ear-worm melodies float above bringing Puth's intimate lyricism to life.
"My new song ‘Hero’ is about when you see someone you love hurting themselves, ruining the things in their life that are good, but you just can’t save them. It’s one of the hardest songs I’ve ever had to write, but I wrote it hoping that you’ve gone through something similar in your life, and that it can fill in the BLANK for you like it did for me. I’m very excited to share my next album with you, especially this song because it’s a great representation of what’s to come. I’ve never put out a song like this before- it’s very different for me, but I want to thank Taylor Swift for letting me know musically that I just couldn’t keep this on my hard drive any longer
Last month, Swift released her critically acclaimed and record-breaking eleventh studio album, THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. The albums title track which name checks Puth with the lyric, "We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist."
With eight multi-platinum singles, four GRAMMY nominations, three Billboard Music Awards, a Critic’s Choice Award, and a Golden Globe nomination under his belt, Puth has three studio albums under his belt and has penned tracks for Katy Perry, Tate McRae, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Pitbull, Maroon 5, Zara Larsson, Liam Payne and Marshmello to name a few. His third album, CHARLIE, delivered tracks including Left and Right with Jung Kook of BTS, That’s Hilarious and Light Switch.
