Australian country megastar Casey Barnes has delivered his sixth body of work with the release of his new album, Light It Up. The record arrives just in time for the musicians national run of shows, kicking off with a sold-out performance in Tasmania tonight.
Barnes' latest offering weaves together different sonic threads, creating a hybrid record that infuses pop and rock within his signature country stylings. Laced with anthemic choruses and feel-good melodies, the musicians vocals stomp atop engaging soundscapes, continuing his run as one of Australia's most exciting country music stars.
Light it Up follows up the musicians hit 2020 record Town of A Million Dreams, and features the previously released singles Come Turn Me On, God Took His Time On You and Get To Know Ya. Produced by Melbourne based production team MSquared (Michael Delozrenzis and Michael Paynter), Barnes wrote the ten tracks over zoom sessions with Nashville based singer-songwriters Kaci Brown and Sam Gray, spending 18 months bringing the collection of songs to life from his Gold Coast studio with with producers and co-writers MSquared.
Speaking of the tour and record, the musician adds: “I feel like every day is bringing a new ‘pinch-me’ moment - from writing and recording these new songs, to getting added to radio and streaming playlists that I never expected I would be on, and now announcing what I hope will be my biggest album and tour yet. It’s been a huge effort putting this all together and wouldn't be possible without the support from my family and my amazing team at Chugg Music. Thanks to everyone for their support and I can’t wait to get the ‘Light It Up’ album out there and hit the road.”
Despite the global pandemic setback, 2020 was an epic year for Casey Barnes, seeing him nominated for ARIA’s Country Album Of The Year with his ARIA #1 Australian Country Album, Town Of A Million Dreams. And 2021 is set to be even bigger with Casey already lapping up four Golden Guitar nominations (2021 Toyota Album of the Year, Contemporary Country Album of the Year, Male Artist of the Year and Vocal Collaboration of the Year).
