ARIA award-winning, Coodjinburra artist Budjerah has shared his new single, Therapy. The track arrives just in time for the musicians slot supporting global-superstar Ed Sheeran on his national Australian tour.

Whilst still retaining his gospel and soul roots through his captivating vocal performance, the guitar-led release finds the singer with a new stroke of confidence, leaning into a bolder pop-fuelled sound. Written by Grammy Award nominated Sarah Aarons (Zedd, Demi Lovato, John Legend) and Stint (Joji, Kesha, Panic! At The Disco), the song explores tension that builds within a relationship and the importance of seeking help to reach a place of content and openness.

"When I first heard the demo for Therapy, it hit me at the perfect time. I was going through a few things and the song really nailed how I was feeling at the time. Therapy is about frustration in a relationship. It's the thoughts and feelings that can erupt when you don’t understand each other and that can be tough to deal with. Therapy can come in many forms, but taking a step back and getting an outside perspective is something that has helped me.” Budjerah says of the track.

With the – + – = X tour set to kick off in Brisbane next Friday, Budjerah will play Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide with Sheeran, and is also set to appear at For The Love Festival at Thomas Dalton Park in Wollongong on February 26.

Earlier this year, the musician teamed up once again with longtime producers Matt Corby and Chris Collins on his sophomore EP, Conversations. This time around, he expands his list of illustrious collaborators, with German–Australian producer Konstantin Kersting taking on production duties for What Should I Do.

Budjerah took home the ARIA Award for Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist for his debut self-titled EP at the 2021 ARIA Awards, weeks after being named Best New Talent at the National Indigenous Music Award. The award was presented by megastar Ed Sheeran and homegrown legend Vance Joy. Yesterday, Budjerah recieved nominations for Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year and Most Performed R&B / Soul Work for Higher at the forthcoming 2022 APRA Music Awards.
