Proud Butchulla musician Birdz has shared his new single They Don’t Know, featuring guest vocals from Thom Crawford and production from trials. The musician has also announced the postponement of his national tour, with a new show included added at The Brightside on Yuggera/Jagera and Turrbal Land (Brisbane) on Thursday August 19th.
Birdz Headline Tour will be visiting Yuggera/Jagera and Turrbal Land (Brisbane) on Thurs August 19th playing at The Brightside then onto the Lands of the Eora Nation (Sydney), Woi Wurrung Country (Melbourne) and finishing on Kaurna Country (Adelaide) playing The Lab on Fri October 15th.
Speaking of the track, Birdz shares: “They Dont Know is about my experience of trying to navigate the music industry. At times it can be overwhelming, having a lot of different voices coming at you with their opinions on what you should do next and when you should do it. ‘They Don’t Know’ is basically my response to that pressure and turning frustrations into a positive. It was the first time in ages that Trials and I had the opportunity to be in the studio together and we just said fuck it, let’s wild out and make something totally different. I feel like it’s important to show people my diversity as an artist and what I’m into sonically - then somehow still marry that with a strong empowering message. For me, that’s exactly what They Dont Know does. It’s a banger you can ride to with the windows down and still gain some substance from.”
Raised in Katherine N.T. and based in Melbourne, as a proud Butchulla man Birdz is renowned for his unique brand of hard-hitting hip-hop embodying strong messages of hope and self-determination. Fly follows the release of Birdz accliamed 2020 single, Bagi-La-M Bargan, his collaboration with Fred Leone which came in at #30 on triple j’s Hottest 100.
