Award-winning Australian singer-songwriter Ben Abraham has treated fans with the announcement of his forthcoming sophomore record, Friendly Fire. The announcement is accompanied by the release of a new taste of the album, Runaway.

Runaway presents another side to Abraham's dazzling songwriting, moving away from the acoustic-based sonics of Requiem, bringing in driving percussion and commanding piano chords, woven together beneath his warm and captivating vocals. Alongside the track comes an official visualiser, where we follow a runner on their evening outing.

Speaking of the release, Abraham shares: “If a big theme of my first album was finding faith, then my new album explores what happens when you lose it. Runaway was the first song I wrote, and in many ways set the template of what was to follow. I had met the person I was certain I was going to marry but ultimately - during a very difficult time - was unfaithful to. All hell broke loose, and I was forced to re-evaluate everything I’d believed to be true. My new album is the story of an unravelling and Runaway is how it begins.”

Abraham's 2014 debut album Sirens, was met with critical acclaim, which prompted a re-issue in 2016 which featured collaborations with Sara Bareilles and Gotye. Since then, the musician has gone on to write alongside some of the biggest names in contemporary music, most notably co-writing Kesha’s RIAA-certified double-platinum, Grammy Award-winning smash hit Praying.

Friendly Fire is out January 21! Watch the visual below.
