BEABADOOBEE FINDS FREEDOM IN THE UNKNOWN ON 'PYLON'

beabadoobee has never sounded quite this restless. On Pylon, her new album via Dirty Hit/Interscope Records, Beatrice Laus trades neat answers for something messier: a raw, expansive rock record built around growing up, missing the past and learning to live with uncertainty.

Following her UK No. 1 album This Is How Tomorrow Moves, Pylon pushes her sound into darker and heavier territory. It can be angry and lonely one moment, euphoric and lovesick the next, with Laus turning deeply personal material into some of her most ambitious songs yet. With Pylon, beabadoobee sounds less interested in having all the answers than in documenting what it feels like not to have them. The result is vulnerable, volatile and considerably bigger than anything she has released before.

That vulnerability is front and centre on new single ‘Write Me A Letter’, a driving indie-rock track produced with longtime collaborators Matty Healy and George Daniel of The 1975. Laus describes the song as being about “seeing my fault in situations, but also admitting things that I would be too embarrassed to say out loud.” It captures the album’s central tension: confronting yourself without pretending you have everything worked out.

Much of Pylon was written while Laus was moving between tours, often alone in hotel rooms. “I had to write these songs on tour or between tours because I had to understand what was going on in my head,” she says. “It’s this idea of letting go and accepting change. When I was on tour, I was yearning for something, and it made me think: How do I make myself feel comfortable? What does it mean to grow up? I was just missing how things were.”

The guest list is equally striking, bringing together artists who once would have seemed impossibly distant from the bedroom songwriter Laus was at 17: Hayley Williams, Turnstile’s Brendan Yates, Pinegrove’s Evan Stephens Hall, Deftones’ Chino Moreno and Title Fight’s Shane Moran all contribute.

In March 2027, beabadoobee will bring The Powerlines Tour to Australia, with shows at Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne and Afterpay Arena in Sydney. The Australian dates, presented by Handsome Tours, triple j and Laneway Presents, form part of one of her biggest touring runs to date, following international stops including Madison Square Garden, The Kia Forum and London’s O2 Arena.
