Indie-pop songstress Austen has delivered her new single, The Fire. The track is set to feature on the singers forthcoming second EP, SMALL, alongside her previous single North South East West.
Co- produced by Matthew Hadley (Total Giovanni) and Jono Ma (Jagwar Ma, Flight Facilities, Channel Tres), the vibrant release weaves together sonic threads of indie electronica, house, and psychedelic pop, ushering in a new sound for the singer.
Speaking of the track, the singer shares: “The Fire is about living on the line between volatile and steady, in a sweet spot of intensity. I wanted it to sound otherworldly, as a reflection of that feeling.”
The release is set to be accompanied by a self-directed visual, due out later this month. Taking a DIY approach to the clip, the flower-filled visual was made “with an old camcorder, two friends, and a budget of $50 that was all blown on flowers”.
