Emerging British artist Alfie Templeman has treated us to another taste of his debut album, with the release of his new single Leaving Today. The release arrives alongside the news the musician will perform a string of headline shows whilst he's in Australia, supporting The Wombats on their national tour this June.
Co-produced by the artist alongside Jungle's Tom McFarland, the glistening cut explores the lust to get back on the road, and how touring life can conjure thoughts and appreciation for the little things in life. Templeman's dynamic vocals simmer above entrancing sonics, with the singer showcasing his skills as a cellist for the first time.
"Leaving Today was written about what it would be like to go on tour again after so long. Getting far away from home and sitting in that van for hours thinking about all the small things you never realised you missed so much. It’s the first song I’ve played Cello on, I tried to layer up multiple different parts as if it was a mini orchestra of terrible cello players! Tom was super encouraging with the Cello stuff, and he added some really gorgeous production, all the oohs you hear at the start are him." the musician shares.
Known for his raucous and energetic live shows, Templeman will take to the stage on June 14 in Sydney and June 16 in Melbourne, tickets to his headline shows are on sale April 5. The musician will also take to the stage in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane alongside The Wombats. Tickets are on sale now!
Since 2017, Templeman has released a whopping seven EP's, alongside his mini-album Forever Isn't Long Enough. The releases cemented Templeman's place a prodigiously talented young musician, songwriter, producer and performer.
Mellow Moon is out May 27.
