Australian DJ, surfer and social media personality Alex Hayes has dropped his debut single, XI.

Released through his own independent, label Live Daily Records, XI sees the emerging producer hone in on progressive techno sonics. Building to a crescendo, the bass heavy track showcases an introspective side to Hayes, as distorted vocals float above the track stating "I've don’t think about you". A strong debut from the musician, XI is the perfect track for your winter grooves, bringing the simmering heat to the dancefloor.

“Over 12 years of experience editing videos has given me a heightened awareness of music, and the power of storytelling by mixing visual art with sound. I always dreamed of making my own music to go with the adventure videos I was making”, explains Alex Hayes. “My ultimate goal is to create music that invites presence, furthering into an experience, a journey, a story told through sound. So pumped to finally do that on my own label, Live Daily Records. My passion for music has always been at the core of who I am”.

Having signed a global distribution deal with Ingrooves, XI is just the first taste of music from the artist, who spent the months prior to the COVID-19 pandemic performing sets across the east coast of Australia. Nina Rabe-Cairns, Country Manager of Ingrooves Music Group Australia shares. “We’re thrilled that Alex chose Ingrooves as his partner to open this exciting next chapter of his career with. He is a hard-working and inspiring entrepreneur with big visions and a very positive attitude. I can’t wait to see where this journey is going to take him.”

XI is out now! Listen to the track below. We caught up with Hayes at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week - head to our Instagram to watch our interview with the musician.
