TRACK-BY-TRACK: FOOL NELSON TAKE US THROUGH 'BAD DREAMS'

Australian trio, Fool Nelson have dropped their new EP, Bad Dreams. To celebrate the release, frontman Tom Broadbent is taking us through the collection of songs track-by-track...

The band are currently in the midst of their national tour, having kicked off with shows in Melbourne, Adelaide and Southport. The run of shows will continue on to Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, Sydney, Wollongong, Leederville and Fremantle, before wrapping up in Freshwater on December 5. Fool Nelson are also set to support DICE at their Sunshine Coast and Brunswick Heads shows in late November, and will play Rolling Sets in Tweed Heads and The Entrance. Tickets to all shows are on sale now.

BAD DREAMS

Bad Dreams is a song about the ebbs and flows of mental health and how anxiety can really cloud your perspective and stop you from seeing the good things in life. It's a reflection on times when everything seems to have gone to crap, but also a reminder to step back and appreciate the good things that help you through those hard times. It's got a sort of cathartic feeling and an optimism that we hope acts as a bit of a reminder that it'll all be alright.

AFTER ALL

After All is about slowly drifting away from certain people in your life. Sometimes intentionally, sometimes not. As I get older, I feel I'm learning to accept these changes more. This is a song about that realisation. 

FORGET IT

Forget It is about trying not to be selfish. I've found the balancing act of maintaining healthy ambition and relationships to be challenging. Uncertainty about the future and what the heck is going on in life makes this a continual struggle. This song is about finding comfort and stability in the people you love and trying not to let them down, despite everything else. 

BIG SHOT

Big Shot was written as a reminder of what's actually important. It's about ego getting the best of us, and making it feel like we can do everything on our own. The song highlights the importance of the people around us in helping us stay grounded and reminding us of what truly matters. 

DON'T FEEL RIGHT

Don't Feel Right is about not taking the people around you for granted. It touches on the idea of growing apart from friends and forgetting about how important certain people are in your life.
