Rising artist KYE has treated us with her sophomore EP, Ribena. We caught up with the singer to chat about the release, cultivating a new sound, her upcoming tour and so much more.
Effortlessly weaving together sonic notes of R&B, dance, Afrobeat, garage and pop, the EP is a celebration of life and happiness, with the singer setting out to create a joyous collection of songs that will get you moving. KYE's honeyed vocals float above dynamic and textural soundscapes that ooze with charm and charisma. Full of 2000's influences that will send you back in time and solidifies KYE as one of Australia's most exciting emerging artists.
To celebrate the release, KYE will be hitting the road on her Ribena Australian tour. Kicking off at Corner Hotel in Melbourne on June 3, the run of shows will continue on to Ballarat and Torquay where the singer will be supporting Telenova, before wrapping up with headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne on June 23 and 24 respectively.
Last year, KYE continued her blaze her own path within Australia's music scene, delivering her singles, Bossin and Clique. The singer supported Multi-ARIA award-winning Ghanaian-Australian artist, Genesis Owusu on his national tour, also serving as a backing vocalist during Owusu's set. She also supported her childhood heroes TLC, and appeared in the 2022 ARIAs tribute performance for beloved, homegrown superstar, Olivia Newton-John.
