NYC-based synth-pop duo RYAL have dropped their new single, By The Minute.
The conceptual track documents lead singer Jacque Ryal's experience calling into a psychic hotline, lyrically pondering what the future holds whilst also baring inner-most thoughts and secrets. Continuing their exploration of nostalgia-fuelled synth-pop, the electronic tinged track builds a dynamic soundscape beneath Ryal's entrancing vocals.
Recorded, mixed, and mastered the song at The Bunker Studio, Brooklyn, By The Minute exists within an 80's inspired sonic realm that ebbs and flows between spatial and frenzied production. Scintillating synth work creates a vibrant palette that calls back to video game and animated film soundtracks, effortlessly unfurling above a captivating bass line.
The musical project of vocalist and keyboardist Ryal with producer Aaron Nevezie, By The Minute is the latest single from the duo, following Skyscraper. The track served as an ode and tribute to those displaced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
