Sydney-based hip-hop artist Donny Dee is gearing up to release his new single, Struggling. If you can't wait to give the track a spin, you can watch the songs official visual right here on MILKY!
The vulnerable release documents the rappers own history, touching on themes of mental health, addition and crime, brought on by the environment he found himself within. Laced with relatable lyricism that strives for change, Dee's melodic tones flow above rhythmic production, with the rapper using the track to push up against the sound of his previous releases. The song arrives alongside an official visual, capturing the conceptual exploration of the track, laced with neon-lit hues.
“I really lost my way,” Dee shares. “I started self-medicating with all the wrong drugs, which ended up only making things worse. When my friends started dying, I got a real wake-up call.”
With a string of singles and his debut EP, Thinking Out Loud, under his belt, Dee is working towards a slew of new music, with Struggling serving as the first taste of his sophomore EP, Empath. Due out late this year, the rapper says of new music: “I’ve learnt a lot about melody, expression, cadence, flow, lyricism and song structure. I’ve definitely refined my sound.”
