Dark, robust and romantic, Encore begins with a slowly plucked guitar whilst Papas’ ethereal vocals set in. The track swells and slowly builds into a grandiose pop anthem, complete with a sublime plucked strings section. With evocative story telling through her lyrical mastery, Papas sets the scene of finding new love atop an ambient and ethereal soundscape.
Of the conceptual background of the track, Papas shares: “Encore came from a similar place of hurt. This song also tells a story of when I saw my boyfriend for the first time in a club and everything went in slow - motion. It's about me giving in to love and letting it consume every part of me.”
On the hauntingly beautiful song, Papas gives a phenomenal vocal performance, comparable to the powerful vocal timbre of Florence Welch, Hannah Reid of London Grammar, with her sweeping vocal tones in the pre-chorus reminiscent of Irish musician Enya.
Papas released her debut single, Wild, last year which saw the singer perform at the AO LIVE Stage at the Australian Open and reach close to half a million streams on Spotify. Earlier this year, the singer dropped her follow up track, Jackson. With Encore, Papas gives listeners another glimpse into her sonic soundscape, placing herself as a formidable force in pop music.
