Psych-rock artist Flicker Vertigo is back with vivid and enchanting new track, Waiting For Apocalypse, due out next Friday. If you’re like us and can’t wait, listen to the song right here on MILKY before its release!

The musical project of Nathan Nicholson, Flicker vertigo fuses together influences of psych-rock and dream-pop to create one mesmerising soundscape on Waiting For Apocalypse. Sitting at seven and a half minutes, the track is complete with intricate riffs melded together with unforgettable bass lines, dreamy echoing vocals and drum beats that will have you grooving along in no time.

Conceptually, the song explores themes of loss, in particular losing yourself in the wake of a breakup. Written during last years lockdown, the musician shares with MILKY: "it was incredibly healing writing this song. The peak of the lockdown had me feeling all kinds of things. This song really ties in with my whole goal with the upcoming album, of not just creating music that I love, but opening myself up, often to a painful degree, and exposing parts of myself I've kept hidden so I can live more authentically and in alignment with who I want to be. It's a little scary, but it's been incredibly cathartic and liberating, which made me feel as though this release is 'the lightning upon the horizion."

On his latest release, Nicholson threads together all the elements to create a nostalgia-led, distorting track that is laced with loopy driving disco. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Nicholson himself, the guitar heavy psych rock sound present throughout the track call-back to early releases from the acclaimed Tame Impala.
