Melbourne band Polarize have released their new single, Big Old Kid.
Continuing the narrative of Friends Again, the song narrates a night out, with vocalist Rudie Dood delivering nonchalant vocal performance, but never careless. Mixed by Colin Leadbetter (Leah Senior, Whitley, Girlatones) and mastered by Mikey Young (Total Control, Eddy Current Suppression Ring), the band bring angular guitars and a wide range of arpeggiated starbursts to ghostly meanderings.
Dodd explains, "'Big Old Kid' is a continuation of 'Friends Again' but rather than offering the prospect of staying friends, we're completely shutting it off. We recorded the bones of it in a studio in South Melbourne but had to finish it off at home in Coburg."
Bursting onto the scene in 2018 with their debut single Do What You Want, the band have gone on to release a handful of singles. Touring extensively throughout Melbourne, the band quickly grew a live following. Earlier this year, the band launched their ‘housebound sessions’, a series releases recorded remotely from each band members homes. The first song, Housebound. Premiered on MILKY in September.
