Music plays a pivotal role in so much we do. So of course when we hear popular shows like Bridgerton not only create their own themes and tracks to support the story, but take popular beloved tunes and make it their own by adding an orchestral twist were there for it.

In the lead up to season 3 we took on the mission of guessing what potential tracks could work for Penelope and Colin’s love story. So far we’ve seen half of the series, and surprisingly enough one track has indeed gotten the orchestral treatment. To say the person who picked that track felt like they won some sort of prize is an understatement. Having tried to guess the surprise songs for Taylor Swift’s Sydney stop of The Eras Tour and failing, this was the next game we undertook and felt like we had just placed man on the moon when one came to be featured.

Pitbull was under consideration, however didn’t make our final selections, but what a twist that was hearing Mr. Worldwide and Neyo soundtrack one of the more pivotal scenes in the series thus far? Since then we’ve wanted to add more to our list, like Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling In Love or Lady Gaga’s Love Game, but our final list is as follows:

YOU ARE THE BEST THING BY RAY LAMONTAGNE

A classic track that I’d love to see take on a new edge with the violin taking centre stage.

THIS LOVE (TAYLOR’S VERSION) BY TAYLOR SWIFT

Is such a sweet song, it would be perfect for a tender touching scene between the lead characters.

JEALOUS BY NICK JONAS

I mean, it’s in the title. We all know someone will be jealous, and this track is already such a fun, feisty ditty it would add that extra sauce to a scene.

INTO YOU BY ARIANA GRANDE

Again, it’s in the title. The good thing about this track is the tempo varies, I can already hear the strings going to town with the melody of this track. Just imagine the staccato!

THERE’S NOTHING HOLDIN’ ME BACK BY SHAWN MENDES

The treatment this song would receive, and the way it would compliment a scene where the two leads finally realise their love for one another has me ready to just go grab a violin and adapt it myself. Imagine the long bow strokes in this track.

CINNAMON GIRL BY LANA DEL REY

Having Lana Del Rey on a playlist is a given. However I’m most intrigued to see what an artist would do with this track to make it Bridgerton. The sweeping movements within it would elevate the scene for sure.

CAUGHT UP BY USHER

This was my pick for the starter song during Usher’s Super Bowl half time show, and of course that came to be. So I’m including it on this list because it actually works for more than one couple on the show.

I’LL BE BY EDWIN MCCAIN

A classic. One that would have the audience on the brink of tears in happiness. This could very well be their wedding song. I can definitely imagine Polin dancing to this track.

OCEAN (FEAT. KHALID) BY MARTIN GARRIX AND KHALID

Picture it, a certain development is made in which the duo have been torn apart. They question everything, realising ultimately they can’t be torn apart by something as trivial as this… this song starts the instruments build, they’re running to each other in the rain. Okay, yes I watch too many romances.

BACK TO YOU BY ALEXANDER STEWART

The way I’d be experimenting with this song. It’s already so cinematic, I think I’d have nine violins creating a building momentum with a cello taking lead in this track.

NAUGHTY GIRL BY BEYONCÉ

Penelope is a boss and this song fits this season so well. When Penelope says enough and takes charge, harnessing her own look and ultimately boosting her confidence… tell me this isn’t the song to suit that?

UNCONDITIONALLY BY KATY PERRY

This is another interesting one, as the track already has a heavy orchestral presence. But the structure of this track is one that just begs to be added to Bridgerton. Whilst we never hear lyrics on the show, we know, we know what’s being said, and it compliments the story perfectly.

OCEAN EYES BY BILLIE EILISH

Correct me if I’m wrong, but both of the main characters have blue eyes and if this song isn’t perfect for the longing looks our leads will share I don’t know what is. And can you just hear the solitary violin starting this track?

THE POWER OF LOVE BY CELINE DION

Powerhouse, legend, Queen. Of course Celine Dion the Queen of romance had to feature on this list. This track is one that I feel captures the essence of Pen over all the seasons. I already love the flow of this track but I can hear how charming it would sound with a string orchestra.

AS IT WAS BY HARRY STYLES

For me, this will be the song we come back with. Things change, they won’t be the same as it was and this song is a fun, punchy little track that I wouldn’t mind hearing bells attached to.

We also prepared a playlist full of our dream Australian artists to recieve the Bridgerton treatment...

Bridgerton is streaming now on Netflix!
