PALE WAVES: 'UNWANTED', TOURING AUSTRALIA AND NEW MUSIC

Watch our interview with Pale Waves' Heather Baron-Gracie below!

British rockers Pale Waves recently brought their live show down under! We caught up with the band to chat about their Australian tour, their third studio album Unwanted, what's next and so much more.

Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Zakk Cervini (Blink-182, Halsey, Machine Gun Kelly), Unwanted finds vocalist Heather Baron-Gracie documenting her own anger and jealousy, exploring the darker side of her inner thoughts. Unapologetic and and confident lyricism strides above more alt-based soundscapes, fuelled by riotous guitar work and driving percussion. The albums unbridled defiance takes us deeper into the constantly morphing sonic identity of the band, as they offer up a more pop-punk-based sound that simmers beneath Baron-Gracie's commanding vocal performance.

Having formed in 2014, Pale Waves released their debut album, My Mind Makes Noises, in 2018, following the release of their debut EP, All the Things I Never Said, earlier that year. The album peaked at #1 on the UK Independent Albums Chart, and received acclaim from critics worldwide and debuted their indie-pop-meets-synth-pop sound. Following it up with 2021's Who Am I?, the band continued to charm listeners and critics worldwide, leaning into brit-pop sonics. The record was conceptually fuelled by love, whilst also serving as a vehicle for Baron-Gracie to share her queer sexuality with fans. With more tour dates scheduled across 2023, the band are currently working on new material to form their next body of work.

Pale Waves kicked off their 2023 Australian tour in Brisbane at Super Fun Day Festival, before performing headline shows at Adelaide's Lion Arts Factory, Perth's Magnet House, Melbourne's Max Watts and Sydney's Metro Theatre. The band were joined by Teenage Joans and Selfish Sons across select dates of the tour.
