International superstar P!NK is back with her new single, Irrelevant. The singer penned the powerful track with Grammy-Award winning producer and songwriter Ian Fitchuk.
Leaning into the pop-meets rock sonics that earned her a legion of fans in the 2000's. the protest track brings the singers signature raspy vocals, bringing biting and urgent lyricism to life. The timely release builds to a chanting bridge, where the singer questions "girls just wanna have rights, why do we still have to fight?", referencing the Supreme Courts to overturn Roe v. Wade, taking away the constitutional right to an abortion.
When sharing her thoughts on the harrowing decision, P!NK was met with replies of social media who tried to dimish her voice whilst telling her to stick to music and not comment on social issues. “As a woman with an opinion and the fearlessness to voice that opinion, it gets very tiring when the only retort is to tell me how irrelevant I am. I am relevant because I exist, and because I am a human being. No one is irrelevant. And no one can take away my voice.” the singer shares of the track.
The singer continues her advocacy work, pleading proceeds from the track to When We All Vote, the national, nonpartisan voting initiative created by Michelle Obama . The advocacy group, whose mission is to change the culture around the voting process, seeks to increase participation in each election cycle by helping to close race and age gaps. To date, more than 100 million people have been educated about the voting process, resulting in increased voter registration.
